Itinerary
In the countryside around Casperia, the ancient fountains were created to support rural life — watering troughs, washhouses, and simple fountains provided the local population with the water needed for their daily activities.
Cycling through the surroundings of the village, you’ll discover that in the fields of ancient Aspra — the original name of today’s Casperia — there are as many as 12 fountains. Some of them have recently undergone structural and architectural restoration to enhance their historical, functional, and artistic value. One of these is adorned with frescoes by the Torresani Brothers, Veronese artists active in Sabina during the 14th century.
This cycling route celebrates the cultural and social value of water as a natural element essential to life. The panoramic tour concludes at the ancient walls of the village of Casperia.
